Accelerated Treatment of Sewage and Industrial Odors

Published on by in Technology

Typically odors have been treated either by scrubbers using acids/alkalis or using biofilters, which employ biofilms to biodegrade the odorous compounds.   Scrubbers are incapable of treating water-insoluble odors and biofilters are large diameter vessels, since they operate at 100 ft/min or less air velocity.  PRD Tech, Inc. has developed an accelerated odor treatment system which uses a scrubber to capture water soluble and insoluble odor compounds using a proprietary, biodegradable solubilizer and then a biological water treatment system using advanced biomedia to treat the captured odor compounds.  The net result is a compact, small diameter, efficient system which operates cost-effetively compared to thermal oxidizers or standard biofilters.
