Hydrogen peroxide to clean filter media
Published on by S. J. Bryant, Chief Plant Operator
Does anyone here have first-hand experience with using hydrogen peroxide to clean their filter beds?
I understand there are some surface water plants which use the strong oxidative properties of H2O2 to remove accumulations of organics and manganese from their media.
How effective has this proven in your plant?
If you have actually used this effectively, I would like to hear from you.
I am hoping to resurrect a filter where strong sodium hypochlorite doesn't do quite enough, but the media is only a couple years old and mechanically in good shape.
